The Party

Downtempo electronica has been soothing ears and uplifting souls around the globe for the past two decades. While the genre continues to grow in popularity, there have been few gatherings in our fair city that consciously push the scene forward. With this in mind, we bring you a celebration of one of the most renowned labels on the international stage.

Join us in welcoming Interchill Records founder, Andrew Ross Collins, and label manager Naasko as they drop in for a rare Toronto visit. The duo is here to launch the label’s new Bliminal compilation, to showcase upcoming releases and to share a dose of the warm west coast vibes that have generated so much acclaim. Expect the unexpected from these two DJs who plan to deliver a broad range of world fusion, urban dub and chunky mid-tempo grooves.

The History

For over 10 years, Interchill has been releasing a diverse spectrum of downtempo electronica from around the world, connecting people from all walks of life to its signature sounds. The label got its start in the chill rooms of Montreal's rave scene in the early 90s and was officially launched in 1994 with the Zion Train remix EP of the Radical Space Eagles.

With an aim to showcase Canadian electronic music to the world, Interchill formed lasting relationships with artists like Legion of Green Men, Adham Shaikh and many others. In 1999, the label moved west to Salt Spring Island, BC and continued to grow upon its foundation of 'organic electronica for expanding minds', reaching out to international world fusion and dub artists like Bill Laswell, Kaya Project, Gaudi, Eat Static, Ishq and Shpongle.

With an already impressive catalogue of 27 releases, Interchill shows no sign of slowing down as 2007 promises to be one of its busiest years to date. The latest album, Bliminal features exclusive tracks from some of the most innovative producers in the genre, including Legion of Green Men, Gaudi, Ishq, Eat Static, Greg Hunter and Bluetech's side project Evan Marc. With several Summer festival appearances already in the works, Interchill continues to expose eager ears to the world’s freshest sounds at gatherings in the UK, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, the US and Canada.
