We've installed a nice photo gallery package on the Boreal website to manage all of the photos from all our trips over the years. Of course, many people have fresh one's from our most recent trip that should go up ASAP - but if you have some from previous years', please feel free to post them as well.
VIEWING & DOWNLOADS
Everyone can view and download any of the images on the gallery.
The software has been configured to create 3 sizes of images, depending on the original photo. The maximum size has been set for 1280x1024 pixels (approx. 1megapixel), with an intermediate size of 800x600 pixels and smaller thumbnails for each image. Click on the thumbnail to view the mid-sized image; click the mid-sized to view the full image.
If you want to download an image, just right-click (control-click for Mac) and save to disk.
UPLOADS
The gallery is configured in a way that only allows registered users to post pictures - this way, there is an associated owner to the pictures for credit where credit is due. Registration is only a matter of entering a username, a full name and an email address.
Once you submit your registration, the software will send you a confirmation email - click on the link included in the email and create a password for your new account. Et voila - you are ready to upload pictures. If you happen to forget your password, click on the 'login' link and follow the instructions provided.
As far as naming conventions go, all we ask is that you create a nested album in the appropriate year album. Call it whatever you want, but please ensure it's in the right trip album. If you have images from a year not listed, then please feel free to create the necessary trip album - for those years when we had more than one trip, just indicate the month too.
In order to create a new album for your pictures, navigate to the trip album for which you have photos to submit, then login. Once logged in, click on the drop-down menu << album actions >> and select 'new nested album'. This will create a blank album for you to use : manipulate the album through the same drop-down menu (add photos, edit captions, properties [including title, description], etc.) If you have any questions on how to use the software, please feel free to contact Seb at webmaster@alieninflux.org
